The Spirit of our People

At Finncare we understand that it is a big personal commitment to invite someone into your home to assist with regular care and support. Such a decision often comes at a major intersection in your life. Our dedicated staff members strive to build a special relationship with each of their clients, and we try and match personalities and interests between clients and staff wherever we can.All staff receive regular training updates to ensure that they maintain the latest skills and knowledge to deliver quality care and services at all times.

Finncare cares for people in the wider Brisbane community who are able to remain living in their own homes with a little assistance from time to time. Helping people to stay in their homes for as long as it is appropriate for them to do so provides benefits to the individual and to their community.

Our team members support and assist our clients to remain at home. We work together with our clients to develop a personalised care schedule that is both convenient and flexible.

We employ a range of allied health professionals and carers, many of whom speak fluent Finnish, to provide the highest quality in-home care and to provide a day respite centre for clients.

Finncare has more than 400 clients across Brisbane from Ormeau in the south, to Rosewood in the west and Redcliffe in the north.

Please call 07 3829 4845 to see how we may be able to care for you at home.

Caring in the Community

Social Support

Finncare’s social support services provides people with help to maintain community access and inclusion in activities including social outings, shopping, banking, medical appointments and visits to friends and family living in the area. We are also happy to help within the home with letter writing, reading, board games and other personal activities that you enjoy.

Domestic Assistance

Domestic assistance helps people with daily and weekly tasks around the home to keep it clean and tidy. The most common tasks we help with are vacuuming and mopping floors, changing linen, doing laundry and cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms. We can also help with meal preparation, organizing your pantry and writing shopping lists.

Centre-Based Activities

You are also welcome to join us at our Care & Cultural Hub where we offer a range of activities and craft sessions. Finncare’s schedule of activities changes regularly and provides a great opportunity to stay active and meet new people with similar interests. Finncare can organize return minibus transport from your home for a small fee.

Personal Care

Finncare’s personal care support provides people with the assistance they need with everyday personal tasks including showering, dressing and grooming. This can be on a daily basis, but for some people, it can be just an extra hand a few times a week to help with a particularly difficult task such as washing hair.

Allied Health Care

Finncare is exceptionally proud of its allied health care programs and relationships. Our Care & Cultural Hub offers regular access to allied health professionals in our Consultants Rooms, as well as a fully supervised, state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym where individualised programs can be developed.

Your Questions

How do I know if I am eligible for home care services? These services are for people who need help to continue living at home within the community because:

  • They are frail or older people who have difficulty with every day tasks such as showering, dressing or housework; OR
  • They are a younger person with a moderate to severe disability; AND
  • They are at risk of having to go into permanent residential aged care.

Some services are also available for people who are caring for a frail older person or someone with a disability.

How do I apply? Call one of our coordinators on 07 3829 4845. Your doctor can provide advice or you and your family could contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.

How will I be assessed? In order to assess your needs, we will talk to you about how you are coping with your daily living. The information you provide is used to decide whether you are eligible for a service and what types of service you need to assist you to remain living at home.

How much does it cost? Finncare has its own policy on fees and we do ask for a contribution, depending on your personal situation. Fees vary for the duration and type of service provided. Special consideration is given to people with limited finances.

What if I am not eligible? All of the home care services can also be arranged privately to suit your needs. Please call us for further information.

We have been able to enjoy the great Finnish Home Care Services for ten years already and have been very happy with them. We have received both spiritual as well as physical rehabilitation and support. Help with transport to the hospital has been a very important part of the service. Thanks to the great staff!!” Aate and Mildi.
